sick day

some days you get up and you get out of bed and you put on your work clothes and you get on the bus and you go to work and you sit at your desk and you make yourself a tea and you stare out the window at the sunshine and you wish you were home, lying in it, as it comes through your windows in shafts and asks you to stay.

and other days you listen to the shafts and you don't bother leaving at all.

blueberry pancakes! is there anything better for a monday morning? no there is not. well maybe apple cinnamon pancakes or banana pancakes or chocolate chip pancakes but those are really more tuesday morning hooky breakfasts.

i love these little goose measuring cups. i keep thinking one day they'll tire of measuring wet and dry ingredients and migrate south.

batter is very inviting for something you shouldn't eat. i do this part as quickly as possible to curb the temptation.

oh glorious lying balcony thermometer! the sun shines directly on this fellow and so quite often it is 25 degrees outside despite the snow and slush.

the only thing that's more enjoyable than making these is eating them, one big pancake-y mouthful at a time. i bet syrup gets excited to go on pancakes. i bet the only thing it likes to be on more is breakfast sausages.

more on this later but there's a certain 'series' of books that a certain 'someone' told me i would like even though i persisted in telling him i had no interest in reading them because their views on vampires, i mean 'something' was totally off. turns out i was totally off.

i'm on the third book and i only started reading them last tuesday. it's partly cause jeremy says the print looks like those easy read books for people with vision problems but mostly it's because i'm completely engrossed. maybe even obsessed. maybe now i have to stop writing because it's staring at me asking me to read it.
