why do people have pets?

they sleep all day and chew things they shouldn't and never listen when you tell them to tie their shoes.


maybe it's because it's nice to care for something that can't thank you? maybe it's because well fed souls make a home feel warm?


i thought pets would teach me to relinquish some control but i'm still re-arranging their wood chips every night to look more aesthetically pleasing.
