yum yum gimmie some

this is really tasty for something that's fairly healthy. i mean, it's not like a rice cake or anything but it's fresh and it tastes like a garden which is a really nice taste to come by this time of year if you ask me.

you just put some goat cheese on a crispy cracker of your choice and then some cilantro or parsley and then a half a cherry tomato.

yeeeeeeeeeeeee-um!

jeremy got me these crazy tomatoes that come with a tomato legend on the container like green is this kind and red stripey is this kind but you can just use regular ol' cherry or grape tomatoes if you want to. the coloured ones are just slightly more comfortable in front of the camera.

viva vendredi

if friday were a person i would hug him/her and give him/her one of those kisses where you put your lips together for a long-ish time but there's no tongue involved or anything like that it's just a nice long compassionate kiss of thanks.

i need to stretch my legs

if this cold weather keeps up i'm going to have to ask for an exercise wheel for christmas and then i'm going to have to ask that christmas come next week.

check yes or no or maybe

have you heard about this mixed tape we’re making for the new american president?

i think it’s such a nice idea.

we should also send him a note asking him
to go steady or maybe we should wait until we send a second mixed tape so we don't come on too strong.

love is when he makes you a tinfoil bird sculpture

jeremy made this for me this morning. cause he's out this evening he said 'now they'll be a little someone to greet you when you get home'.

HA!

i love my silvery welcome home. i love that it's pretty AND you can put leftovers inside.

irony

today i helped my boss person write an email to her boss person about all the issues we've been having that aren't being resolved with email and internet and i helped her make all her little points just how she wanted and then we went to hit send and the computer crashed.

i told jeremy this story and he suggested we carve the complaint on a stone tablet and carry it down the mountain.

HA HA what a funny feller.

please note i coloured moses in myself using crazy colours cause, i mean, how do we know moses wasn't purple in real life? answer, we do not.

if you'll be my dixie chicken

does anyone else like the dixie chicks? or was it only ever just me?

i find if i say in public 'if the dixie chicks came here i would totally go see them' people usually are like 'yeaaaaaaah' and just treat me slightly different from then on.

ha i joke but seriously no one thinks they're cool? peppy cowboy girlband who aren't afraid to voice their opinions? got their name from this cute song? great lead vocals? snappy lyrics and a fiddle? no? nothin?

i know who agrees with me on this matter! those lily and lucy characters. awww yeah! how could i have forgotten! all three of us sang whole albums together on the roadtrip to montreal last year. woah maybe even that was two years ago? hello time flying by. i mean goodbye.

awww, so nice! don't they look happy and nice?! like they LOVE making country music and cheering their listeners up.

the original band. burn on you girls on the right! maybe those two are in their own band now called tennessee lamb.

pretty! that martie especially is so pretty i think. and even prettier when she's all rrrear reaar reeeee reedeelee dee on her violin machine and her hair swooshes back and forth and her eyes are shut cause she's really feelin her fiddlin.

run-on

so tonight was my first night of school and i went to the totally wrong campus and the people at the wrong campus didn't know how to tell me to get to the right campus but part of me felt like i vaguely remembered so i went running (after a quick call to jared) to the right campus which is at gerrard and something and i was at king and something and i ran it in record time like i was passing people at a pace you could almost call a jog and then i got there and i wasn't late i even had some time to help two lost looking people and we got into class and were told it might be cancelled because not enough people had registered but to come back next week just incase more people register so i was like awesome i'm going to get home from here as quickly as possible so i can spend tonight dancing around the apartment in a crazy fashion and i got home super duper fast because i willed it so but also because i was already warmed up from the earlier sprint from the wrong campus to the right one.

don't shirk your responsibility

who is shirk anyways?

shrek's irresponsible brother?

maybe all those kids and pets are actually shirk's and shrek got stuck with them when shirk went out for cigarettes and never came back.

two tongue twisters

betty botter
author - unknown

betty botter bought some butter,
"but," she said, "the butter's bitter;
if i put it in my batter,
it will make my batter bitter;
but a bit of better butter,
that would make my batter better."

so she bought a bit of butter,
better than her bitter butter,
and she put it in her batter,
and the batter was not bitter;
so 'twas better betty botter
bought a bit of better butter.

if a picture paints a thousand words

sometimes i look at pictures and think, if i didn’t know me and the people in this photo it would be such a different photo to look at.

like i wouldn’t know about the great love i have for the fellow on the right which is bigger than any love i could have imagined before he came trodding along.

i wouldn’t know that i take ballet with the fellow in the suit jacket and that he’s become a dear, dear friend, (with perfect turnout).

i wouldn’t know the baby in the fancy dress is the first born of one of my bestest pals and that now, her life is about being a mom and all the other super important multi-faceted roles that go along with that.

all i would know is dang, these people are attractive.

twinkle toes

unexpectedly, last night my ballet teacher asked me to lead the class in warm-up.

MOVE OVER MIKHAIL BARISHNAKOV! here i come. and on my way i’m going to learn more famous ballerina’s names so i can stop only saying that one and karen kain.

i wonder if next class my teacher will say, ‘now jennifer will lead the class in a solo interpretive number’.

here’s hopin, eh.

congratulations!

sophie, well done on being able to eat solid foods!

i look forward to when we can share a plate of nachos.

does this dress make me look like a birthday cake?

every week i try to do something that scares me to help me be less afraid of things and to put my own wimpy twist on that 'do one thing that scares you every day' saying.

this week it was to go into the bridal store that just opened across from my work and wouldn't you know it, not at all scary!

although, it was full of giant dresses that look like pastries which is kind of scary. giant anythings are the scariest. especially giant baked goods masquerading as bridal wear.

hush up

on the subway yesterday we thought it might be a good idea for me to learn all the words to a bunch of cool songs so that when we have kids, i can sing them all the cool songs and not get stuck making up verses to old mcdonald.

also, it's nice to sing. it makes me feel good. i like how you get to be a musical instrument all your self without plugs or strings or foot pedals.

when i was little, my mom sang me lots of nice songs by barbara streisand and bette midler and phil collins and jennifer warren and linda rondstadt so also, i thought that it would be neat to do when i become a mom as one of those family legacy things.

so far i've already decided on which slow michael jackson song i'll learn as well as about ten others by various bands and solo artists.

at the very least, i'll have some solid material for a really low-key karaoke party.

art exhibit

admission is a suggested donation of fifty cents and two of those toblerone shortbread cookies.

letters

dear rubber boots

i miss you today.

do you miss me?

or are you like regular rubber boots and so incapable of human emotion? yeah i didn’t think so. i knew there was something special there. i felt it in the lining.

hang tight at home all alone, rubber boots.

if you get hungry, make yourself a sandwich. if you take a nap, i hope you dream of traipsing around outdoors on my feet. and if you feel alone, know i’m dreaming that same dream here at work.

love,

jenn

well la dee dah

sometimes when you're feeling really happy and you think about the happy feeling and how nice it is, you feel happy for even longer.

which is the nerdiest thing i've ever thought and said out loud.

for when we have our farm

i got these boots today from canadian tire and i think they are very special.

jeremy's sister robynn has a pair and twisted my silly putty arm into trying on my own and SHABAM, i am now a girl in serious rubber boots.

when i said "they're for our farm!" jeremy laughed and offered to pay which must mean saying nonsense gets you free goods.

that old fashioned feeling

remember letter writing? on paper? with a pen?

jeremy got me this beautiful stationary yesterday and i can't wait to sit down at my desk and write some nice stuff to some nice people on it. i think i'll drink tea while i write and maybe have a cookie or three handy.

maybe i'll listen to classical music and smell a fresh cut flower when i run out of things to say. maybe i'll start a letter and then take a nap and then finish it.

one day, when the little butterflies on the bottom come alive i'll spend all day running around the apartment trying to catch them and put them back on the paper just long enough to get them in the envelope and send them off.

doodles

i drew this little pirate guy and he seemed bored so i shrunk him down in size and drew him his own ship and sunset and i must say, he does seem quite a bit happier.

i feel full

what a pretty picture

is that a monkey pouring her drink?

handy!

those lazy sob's in central america did no such thing. just swing here swing there all day. get a job!

oh yeaaaaah

i love this version of this song!!

it's so tropical and whimsical and popsicle.

turn it up!

and get yourself one of those drinks with the umbrellas and the plastic monkeys and the crazy straws that make your drink ride the great canadian minebuster before it gets to your mouth.
